20 Scriptures on Fear and Anxiety

20 scriptures on fear and anxiety

Today, I wanted to encourage you and give you 20 Scriptures on Fear and Anxiety. You see, everywhere on the news we see mass shootings and wars. We are seemingly on the brink of WW3, divisiveness is everywhere and more. This is not to mention the stress of our daily lives, trying to pay bills, illnesses, etc.

Itโ€™s so easy to let fear take hold in light of all that is going on in the world.
However, you donโ€™t have to give in to fear. God is still in control no matter how bleak they may seem. He is still on the throne.

God is in Control

Jesus said in Matthew 24:

โ€œAnd you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.โ€

Matthew 24:6 ESV

God knows everything that is happening and is going to happen. He has you right in the palm of His hand. You only have to turn to Him and He is right there.

It also says in Romans 8:28 (one of my favorite verses and the first one I ever memorized) that:

โ€œWe know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.โ€

Romans 8:28 MEV

You see, no matter how bad things may look, God will turn it around for good โ€œfor those who love Him.โ€

We are in the very last days before Jesus comes for His bride. And, as hard as it is at times, what a privilege!

For Such a Time as This

Who knows that God may have placed you right where you are in this specific time โ€œfor such a time as this?โ€ just like He did with Esther.

In Esther 4:14, Mordecai tells Esther that she may have become queen “for such a time as this”.

“he sent back this answer: โ€œDo not think that because you are in the kingโ€™s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your fatherโ€™s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?โ€

Esther 4:13-14 NIV

Because Esther listened to Mordecai and didn’t give in to fear, she saved the Jewish people at the time.

Lessons we can learn from Esther

Here are just a few lessons that we can learn from Esther:

  • God has placed you on earth for a reason and you can make a difference right where you are
  • We must be willing to do difficult things if God calls us to them
  • We can trust God to guide us as we obey
  • God has given each of us a circle of influence and we shouldn’t stand by while injustice happens or someone needs help
  • We should all pay attention to what’s happening around us and seek God’s guidance on how he wants to use us

God knows our every step. There is nowhere we can go where He cannot find us so there is no need to be afraid.

And there was a great calm. 27 The men were amazed, saying, โ€œWhat kind of Man is this that even the winds and the sea obey Him!โ€

Conclusion

These 20 Scriptures on fear and anxiety are only a few in the Bible. There are so many more that I could share with you. God knows that we get anxious. He knows when we are afraid. And, He is waiting for us to look to Him. He has no fears.

As with the storm in Matthew 8, Jesus was sleeping because He had no fear. Perhaps, He was testing his disciples to see how his disciples would react to the storm. Or, perhaps He was setting an example for how we all should react.

It isn’t easy, but we can be at perfect peace in the midst of life’s storms by remembering that He is in control, He loves us and He works all things for our good.
