Be Anxious For Nothing

be anxious for nothing

God tells us in His Word to “Be anxious for nothing”. However, I know that is easier said than done.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7MEV

My Anxiety

The last few months I haven’t written much because I’ve been busy with the stresses of a new job. But, more than that, I’ve been dealing with an unknown allergy. I’ve never had allergies in my life. But all of a sudden for the last few months I’ve looked a bit like a raccoon with red, swollen, blistered eyelids. It has been a trial to say the least.

What’s made it worse is the fact that because I just moved, I had to change my insurance and get a new primary care physician. Trying to get in to see a doctor as a new patient has been almost impossible.

The hardest part has been the unknown. Not knowing what is causing this reaction so that I can avoid it. Whatever “it” is.

Mountains Out of Molehills

This whole trial, however, has reminded me of how many things are unknown to us. Going through any trial, it’s easy to try to anticipate the results and wonder how things are going to turn out. We fret over all the possible outcomes- good or bad.

I don’t know about you, but that’s when I can feel my blood pressure rising and I start worrying about all those things that are outside of  my control. My focus is shifted from keeping my eyes on God my provider, the great Healer and Lord of my life to the problem itself. The immediate problem then becomes bigger than it really is and makes you miserable. It becomes all consuming.

All Things Work for Good

Even though we may not know the future and there are so many things that are unknown that we could and do worry about. I know that has the future in His hands. I know that God will do something good through this unknown allergy and I know that He will do something good through whatever trial or situation you are facing today.

God says in Romans 8:28 that “We know that all things works together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.”

Conclusion

This was the first verse I ever memorized and held onto it whenever life got hard. God was always there for me and is right here with me now. Wherever you are at, He also with you. Just reach out to Him and He will meet you. Be anxious for nothing, but give it to Him in prayer. He is faithful.

Remember to keep your eyes on Him. Don’t let your circumstances and problems steal your joy. Lean in to God and let Him love you. He’s waiting.
