I am not a mistake and neither are you. No matter what the circumstances of your birth, God created you on purpose for a purpose. Sometimes when I make mistakes I feel like I am a mistake. But, that is a lie. God doesn’t make mistakes.
When we take our value and identity from false belief systems or from trying to earn the approval of others, it will eventually fail.
Created On Purpose
Psalm 139:13-16 NIV says
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Psalm 139:16 NIV
No matter where you were born or the circumstances of your birth, no matter how many mistakes you’ve made, you are not a mistake. God does not make mistakes. Everything God does has a purpose and He has a purpose for you.
All Things Work For Good
Also, it says in Romans:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”
Romans 8:28 NIV
This verse was always my favorite when I was growing up, it was the first verse I ever memorized. When I was feeling down or upset at my mistakes or my circumstances, I held on to the truth contained in this verse. I knew that no matter what I was facing or dealing with, that God would somehow work it for my good.
You see, God is not dependent on us to accomplish his purposes. Instead, He chooses to use us for His glory and will work all the bad stuff that happens in our lives for good. He won’t let our struggles go to waste.
Conclusion
God’s love is unconditional. You can’t earn it. You don’t have to earn it. It is freely given. Don’t believe the lies anymore. I now know that I am not a mistake and neither are you. Even though we will continue to sin and make mistakes. God will turn it into something good if we continue to have faith and turn to Him.
