It’s taken me a while to grasp just how unique each one of us is. Isaiah 64: 8 talks about how we are the clay in the potter’s hand. God fashioned each one of us specifically and for a purpose.
Isaiah 64: 8

From the color of our hair and our eyes to our skills, where we were born and the hopes and dreams he put inside each one of us, He has a plan for our lives.
When we struggle with who we are and don’t understand that our sense of identity is not supposed to come from what other people think, how we perform or how we look, then how can we fully comprehend how unique and special he made each one of us.
I wrote the poem below a few years ago and wanted to share it. To me, it’s a reminder to continue to look to my Creator- God Almighty to understand who I am.
Before You Were Born
Before you were born I knew your name I created you unique With purpose For a purpose You are not a mistake Or a second thought I created everything About you From the color of your hair And the color of your eyes To your passions And sense of humor It all came from me I am the potter You are the clay I will mold you and Shape you into the person I know you can be You are my precious child My witness Stand strong In faith I will not fail you I love you God. He is the Potter
Just like a potter at his wheel, taking the time to create something beautiful, so God took His time in creating you just the way you are for his good pleasure and purpose. Isaiah 64: 8 also states that “we are all the work of his hand”.
We all have things that we don’t like about ourselves, but God loves us just as we are. So much so that He sent Jesus to die in our place for our sins thereby restoring our relationship with him.
When we accept Jesus into our hearts, that is only the beginning of the purposes and plans He has for you and me.
