Jesus is the Greatest Gift

Jesus is the greatest gift

Do you know Jesus? Do you truly realize that Jesus is the greatest gift you can ever receive. I know that He is certainly the greatest gift I have ever received. It’s the gift that will never end.

However, sometimes it can seem like the whole world is falling apart and that God doesn’t care. But, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

WHO IS JESUS?

Jesus is the “Living Word”

It says in John 1:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were created through Him, and without Him nothing was created that was created. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. 5 The light shines in darkness, but the darkness has not overcome it.”

John 1: 1-5 MEV

God created all things. Jesus is the Word become flesh, who was with God in the beginning when He created the earth and all that is in it. This includes you and me.

He is the Creator

It says in Genesis:

“Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Genesis 1:26 MEV

God made us in HIS Image– able to think, with a soul and spirit. He chose to make us.

In Psalm 139: 13-16 it says:

13 You brought my inner parts into being; You wove me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise you, for You made me with fear and wonder; marvelous are Your works, and You know me completely. 15 My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, and intricately put together in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw me unformed, yet in Your book all my days were written, before any of them came into being.

Psalm 139: 13-16 MEV

There are several key things to get out of this scripture:

You are made with fear and wonder

When translated from the Hebrew this means with great reverence, heart-felt interest, and with respect.

Can you imagine? God made you and I with “reverence, heart-felt interest, and respect”! In my book that gets a WOW!

He knows you completely

There is nothing about you, that He does not know. Every thought, action, and deed He knows. There is nowhere you can go where He cannot find you.

He “intricately” put you together, He created you. Everything about you from your parents, the times you live in to the color of your hair, your skills, interests and giftings, as well as your dreams and personality and so much more was designed by God- On purpose.

All your days were written before one of them came to be

God knew everything you would ever do from the time you are born to the time you die. And, no matter how badly you think you may have sinned or messed up, He still chose to create you. He still chose to die for you.

I don’t about you, but that thought leaves me speechless. To know that God loves me that much is amazing and I don’t know that I will ever really be able to process that.

All I can do is say “Thank you, Lord” and humbly submit myself to Him and His Will.

To put this in perspective, let’s go back to John 1: 1-3.

Almighty God, Jesus the Word who created this world including you and me, chose to die, to become sin in our place so that we can not only be saved from the penalty of our sins- an eternity in hell, but so that we can be restored into a right relationship with God the Father.

Moreover, if you look back at Psalm 139 above, you will see that God has a plan for you.

You were created on purpose for a purpose. God has a purpose for everything, including you and I.

He rose from the dead after living a perfect life- perfectly human and perfectly God leaving us with the gift of the Holy Spirit to lead us, comfort us, and instruct us in the way we should go.

He is the Coming King

One day soon, He will call us who are believers home and return to earth as the Coming King.

Jesus created us, saved us, restored our relationship with God the Father, has a purpose for us, is preparing a home for us, & is coming again soon to take us home.

Conclusion

Jesus is the greatest gift of all. Nothing will ever compare to the love that He has for you and me. He created us with love and care and intricate detail.
So when you start to get down on yourself, just remember all that He has already done for you. He loves you more than you can ever imagine.

I touched on it this week, but stay tuned for part 2- WHAT DOES GOD SAY ABOUT ME IN THE BIBLE where I will go more in depth.
