Psalm 138: 8 – The Lord Will Fulfill His Purpose

The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me

The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me and for you. In Psalm 138:8 God promises that He will do just that. No matter how far away it might seem the fulfillment of your dreams are, God will fulfill them. His promises are true.

God’s Promises

You can count on God and on His promises.

“The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever, do not forsake the works of Your hands.”

Psalm 138:8 MEV

Also, as it says in Isaiah,

“so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. “

Isaiah 55:11 MEV

The Lord Will Fulfill His Purpose For Me and For You

No matter how it may look to us, God will do what He says He will do. It may not always be in our time, but He is always faithful. Even though we may not be always be faithful, God is. In fact, His faithfulness is actually our Shield. It protects us.

A Few Things to Remember

1. Remember that God has good plans for our lives and our future

Even if we don’t understand or know what it is, God has great plans for our lives and our future. He doesn’t do anything without purpose. Also, nothing surprises Him.

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11 MEV

2. Understand and accept who you are in Christ. Know what the Bible says about who you are.

When you give your heart to the Lord “everything is made new again. The old passes away. You are a new creation.”

You no longer have to live in the past with your regrets and mistakes. We all have them. But when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and receive His forgiveness, you are cleansed and made whole. So, look to the future and all the wonderful things that He has for you.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 MEV

3. Align your heart to his.

Seek out His vision for your life. He will lead you. He created you to be uniquely you for a reason with all your skills, talents, spiritual gifts, and abilities. And, He has a reason for creating you just as you are.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 MEV

4. God has not forsaken you

Remember that when things get hard and you have things that you struggle with that God has not forsaken you. He promised to “never leave you, nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

“Let your eyes be without love of money, and be content with the things youhave. For He has said: ‘I will never leave you, nor forsake you.’”

Hebrews 13:5

It is through the trials of this life that our faith is often tested. And, as we step out in faith, God will always meet us. If you ever start to doubt, take a look once again at Psalm 138:8. His promises are true and the Lord will fulfill His purpose for you. Just keep looking up.
