What Am I Reading Now?

what am I reading now

So, what am I reading now? As an author, sometimes people are curious about what types of books I like to read and authors I like to follow so that I can get their latest book.

You see, I’ve always loved to read. I was a voracious reader as a teenager and that continues to this day. The types of books I read has changed as I have matured and my interests have changed, but I still always have a couple of different books going at the same time.

So, when asked “what am I reading now?”, here are the books that I am currently reading or have just finished recently.

What Am I Reading Now?

What Am I Reading Now?
Purpose: Design a Community and Change Your Life

“Purpose” by Gina Bianchini is a great book for those who are looking to find purpose and/or what is missing in their lives. Gina provides a guide to help you understand who you are and what is most important in your life and how to find others who want to do the same.

The book is thought provoking but gives you a good framework and process for discovering more about yourself and your purpose.

This is one of those books that you will find yourself going back to over and over again.

HOW ARE YOU REALLY by Jenna Kutcher

What Am I Reading Now?
How Are You Really? by Jenna Kutcher

“How are You, Really” by Jenna Kutcher is a fantastic book for women who want more out of life than the typical 9 to 5 job. This is a great book for those who are looking for a more satisfying life by pursuing those things that you love and are passionate about and turning them into your primary income source.

It’s about so much more than income, though. You see, it’s about finding out who you are and what you really would like to do with your life. It’s about learning to listen to your heart and that still small voice inside.

Throughout this book you will find out more about who you are. You will discover how to build a support system, and how to begin making changes to reach those dreams deep within you so you can live a more fulfilling life.

THE REIGN: OUT OF TRIBULATION by Jeffrey McClain Jones

What Am I Reading Now?
The Reign: Out of the Tribulation

“The Reign” by Jeffrey McClain Jones is a futuristic Christian fiction book based at the end of the tribulation. The global conflict ended suddenly when the enemy’s troops vanished. Now a new leader in Jerusalem claims to be Lord of all the earth. A damaged world is trying to heal.

Those who are still on the earth, who made it out of the tribulation are questioning the new ruler. They don’t know whether He will restore and heal the earth or whether he will destroy and dominate like the previous ruler.

If you like end times fiction that asks great moral and spiritual questions but is also entertaining, you will enjoy this book.

NEPHILIM ISLAND: PROGENY BOOK 1 by Shawn Hopkins

What Am I Reading Now?
Nephilim Island

“Nephilim Island” by Shawn Hopkins is a book I have just started reading so I can’t really leave a review. However, it is based on the legend of the Nephilim mentioned in the book of Genesis.

According to the description on Amazon:

“Nephilim Island is the first enthralling novel in the Progeny series. Described as “Dan Brown meets Lost meets Left Behind,” and “Stargate meets The Da Vinci Code,” Nephilim Island takes the reader through the heart of the Bermuda Triangle and drops them in a world where biblical legend and ancient mythologies – “the similarities of which Hopkins describes with academic dexterity” – reign terrifyingly supreme. Buckle up! Nephilim Island is “equal parts religious thriller and action-packed roller coaster ride!”

ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING by Max Lucado

Immanuel - God with Us
Anxious For Nothing by Max Lucado

“Anxious for Nothing” by Max Lucado is a wonderful book that I have been reading for a few months now. If you deal with anxiety or have a hard time finding peace in this crazy world, this is the book for you. Max Lucado provides a great roadmap to help you stop worrying and find the peace of God which is promised in Philippians.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

LIGHT OF THE ARK by James Bonk

What Am I Reading Now?
Light of the Ark

“Light of the Ark” by James Bonk is another book that I’ve just started to read. It’s like DaVinci Code meats Indiana Jones. It’s a fast pace adventure with a religious twist.

“Matthew and his father are tasked with the ultimate mission to protect a holy artifact, and when a figure from the past threatens to expose the family secret, Matthew must put his life on the line to protect the artifact and the ones he loves. Matthew must rely on his faith and inner strength to confront the darkness and discover the true power of his family’s past.”

“Dead Sea Rising” is another great book from Jerry Jenkins. He is one of my favorite authors. His books always capture my attention. At the same time, I find myself asking thought provoking questions on underlying themes and topics in his books.

This is another great adventure with a Biblical twist.

“Nicole Berman is an archaeologist on the brink of a world-changing discovery. Preparing for her first dig in Jordan, she believes she has found concrete evidence of a biblical patriarch that could change history books forever. But someone doesn’t want the truth revealed. THE GOSPEL OF PILATE by Paul Creasy

What Am I Reading Now?
The Gospel of Pilate

“The Gospel of Pilate” by Paul Creasy the explores the question “did Pilate and his wife become a Christian?” I’m not sure of the answer to that question, but I loved this book. Not only could I not put it down, but it provided a possible scenario for how things may have during the time of the crucifixion and thereafter.

“For two thousand years, the name of Pontius Pilate has been remembered with vile contempt. Cursed by countless generations for his one fateful decision, this otherwise obscure Roman bureaucrat has been forever damned in the eyes of history. Now, however, a subway construction project under the streets of modern Rome has inadvertently uncovered the archeological find of the millennium. Inside a long forgotten chamber beneath the ruins of Nero’s Golden House, a confidential report to Emperor Tiberius has been discovered that could turn all of history on its head.

In this fast-paced, action-packed, historical thriller, archeologist Dr. Thomas Lampton and his girlfriend, Victoria Alberghetti, will have their relationship tested, and their comfortable world turned upside down as a result of this astonishing find.

After translating the ancient scrolls, Thomas uncovers the story — behind the story — of the most famous trial in history. A lifelong skeptic, reading the eyewitness account of the trial, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, from Pontius Pilate’s perspective, throws everything he thought he once knew into chaos. It also puts he and Victoria’s lives in jeopardy.

Men will kill to acquire these priceless documents. Powerful forces will stop at nothing to keep their explosive secrets hidden. Because now, after centuries of silence, Pontius Pilate will finally have his say. His answer to the most important question ever asked, what is truth, will shake the world to its very foundations.”

MY LUCKY LIFE IN AND OUT OF SHOW BUSINESS: A MEMOIR by Dick Van Dyke

What Am I Reading Now?
My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business by Dick Van Dyke

Dick Van Dyke is one of my favorite comedians. I started watching him in Disney movies as a child like Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and later I watched him on reruns of the Dick Van Dyke Show and on Diagnosis Murder. “My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business” is a fascinating story about his life behind the scenes of many of his famous characters.

Dick Van Dyke often refers to himself as “simple song-and-dance man,” but is a classic entertainer and one of my favorites.

If you love Dick Van Dyke or great biographies of interesting people, I would highly recommend this book.

Conclusion

When someone asks me “What are you reading now?”, I can never just give one answer. I love all kinds of books and have several books going in different genres at the same time. While I don’t have as much time as I used to, reading is a great way for me to not only relax but to discover new authors, learn spiritual truths, inspire my imagination and creativity and learn things that can benefit me as a writer as well.

So, what are some of the books that you are reading?
