Where do you look for fulfillment?
What is the meaning of fulfillment in life?
Do you look to the world and all it has for fulfillment or to God?
Many of us miss their true God-given purpose by looking to the world for fulfillment. We look to others, money, fill our time with busy stuff and more.
However, there is only one thing that will fill that hole in your heart and spirit and that is God. By taking hold of your true identity in Christ and the purpose for which He created you, you can find success, significance, fulfillment and so much more than you ever thought possible.
What is the Meaning of Fulfillment in Life?
According to Oxford Languages, fulfillment is defined as:
1. The achievement of something desired, promised, or predicted.
“winning the championship was the fulfillment of a childhood dream”
2. the meeting of a requirement or condition.
“the fulfillment of statutory requirements”
However, the type of fulfillment I am talking about is all about discovering our own uniqueness in Christ. We are created uniquely for specific roles and tasks that only we can do.
Everything that we are, that makes us unique from the way we look and our dreams to our personalities, gifts, skills and talents.
The challenge is discovering that uniqueness and how to use it.
Where Has God Placed You?
Where has God placed you and what are your roles?
What does God want you to do in those roles?
For example, at home, at work, with your family and neighbors?
Also, what do you enjoy doing and what are you good at?
What are the deepest dreams of your heart?
My Struggles With Fulfillment in Life
I am in the process of figuring this out myself. I love a lot of things and my challenge is discovering how to use all of my creativity to glorify God.
I do admin to actually make a living, but my heart is in writing, and helping others discover their own identity and purpose in Christ.
I love painting, computer graphics, creating unique designs and products, crafting, public speaking, acting, playing the piano and more.
That is only a short list. My point is this, we all have certain things that we love to do. However, we don’t know how they are connected to each other or how we can use them to honor God or share his love.
I would love to be able to make a living using my creativity- my writing, speaking, graphics design, etc. Instead of admin. I’m not there yet. However, as I continue to turn these over to God and stay connected to him, He will guide me.
Learning to Walk With the Holy Spirit
Learning to walk with Jesus and the Holy Spirit is a lifelong journey. Fulfillment comes in stepping out in faith in our own uniqueness with Him even if we don’t understand how things will work out.
“Remain in Me, as I also remain in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, neither can you, unless you remain in Me. ‘I am the vine, you are the branches. He who remains in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit. For without Me you can do nothing.’”

Conclusion
So, what is the meaning of fulfillment in life?
The meaning of fulfillment is discovering what makes you unique and embracing it. Using it to honor God.
What are the roles that only you can fulfill with your family, friends, work?
What are your hopes and dreams?
What are you good at?
What do you love to do?
Don’t look to the world for fulfillment, you will be greatly disappointed. It in only is discovering who God created you to be, your own uniqueness and your identity in Christ that you will fine true fulfillment.
Anything we do in the name of Jesus, with the right motives, will last for eternity.
- a kind word
- giving someone in need a meal
- sharing the gospel message with someone who needs to hear it
- using your skills to honor God.
These are only a few examples. It’s about not only the big opportunities, but the little, every day moments that matter the most.
