As promised, I wanted to update you on my first book- Loving Jesus: A 30 Day Devotional audio book. I also want to share with you why I wrote this book to begin with.
With regard to the upcoming audiobook, I wanted to record this myself because the lessons I’ve learned and tried to pass on come from my heart and were inspired by God.
Next Monday, I will be posting a sample from chapter 1 so you can hear how it is progressing.
This the first book I’ve ever written. It first came about because I wanted to do something with the poetry I had written over the years. Additionally, up until the time I joined a Christian Repertory Theater company called the Covenant Players back in 1996, I had never written a poem in my life.
What is Covenant Players?
Covenant Players is a repertory theater company that shares the gospel and positive messages through plays at churches (of all denominations), public and private schools, nursing homes, prisons, home school programs, youth retreats and more through a combination of short one act plays based on a theme. Each play ranged in length from 30 seconds to 20 minutes.
We traveled in vans in groups of 3 to 4 people for approximately 5 months at a time with training twice a year. Throughout my 3 years in Covenant Players, I traveled all over the United States and to parts of Canada including Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and New Foundland.
When I joined this ministry, I had never acted in my life! I was terrified to step out on stage but God was directing me and gave me the strength I needed. I’ll tell you more about that another time.
The Beginning of My First Book
The first poem I wrote came about when I was going through a difficult transition while touring in Upstate New York. I was transferred to another unit that needed my help in North Carolina. I really didn’t want to go. I loved the unit I was with. We were really close. So, I had been journaling my thoughts and prayers and had a sudden urge to write a poem.
Most often, my poems come about through my prayers and conversations with God and through worshipping Him.
Since that time, I’ve never stopped writing. The time I spent in Covenant Players was life changing. One miracle after another, life lessons and faith lessons. I’ll tell you more about them some time.
I might even write a book about that time.
Conclusion
Anyway, that’s how my first book, Loving Jesus: A 30 Day Devotional, came about. I had no idea what I was doing but got on Amazon and learned how to self-publish my first book. I’ve come a long way since that day and next week I will be sharing the first chapter- Day 1 Audio book with you.
Additionally, I will be continuing to share different segments of the audio book with you as I progress.
