Do you want to have fun, peace and security? These are the last three concepts that I want to talk about in part 3 of our series about identifying false beliefs.

Unless, we define these key concepts for ourselves, in accordance with scripture, how can we know what we are looking for?

We say we want success and to be significant, but, how do we know what that looks like if we don’t take time to understand what that means?

Fun, Peace and Security

So, this week, I am looking at the final three concepts of fun, peace and security.

Have Fun

Fun, for our purposes here, is defined as “uninhibited spontaneity”.

We need to have fun in this life. However, as Christians, often times we put up these walls of what is proper. You are expected to act and look a particular way.

We need to throw off those kin of unscriptural restraints and inhibitions. Stop worrying about “keeping up appearances”.

When was the last time you had fun? For me, it’s usually the spontaneous moments right here at home when my husband is being goofy and making me laugh. Or, a spontaneous day trip to the beach or explore a new little town a couple of hours away.

One of my favorite Jesus movies is The Matthew Film because in it Bruce Marchiano, the actor who played Jesus, incorporated a sense of humor into the role.

In the movie, Jesus laughed and smiled when He healed someone, when He was speaking the sermon on the mount, He incorporated moments of humor into it.

I have to believe that God must have a great sense of humor and fun, after all, He created us didn’t he?

Security

Where do you find your security? Are you looking to finances and retirement savings for your security?

Or, are you looking, perhaps, to someone else- your spouse, your parents or your kids for security?

Are you looking to your police,politicians and the government for your security?

If you are looking to anything in this world for your security then you are looking in the wrong place.

The only true security any of us have is in our faith in God. He is our Savior, Healer, Protector, Lord and much more.

It says in Matthew 6:

Take a look at the story of Peter when Jesus walks on water in Matthew 14 as well. As long as Peter was looking to Jesus, he was able to walk on water. He was secure. But as soon as He took his eyes off of Jesus, he sank.

As long as we seek God first and keep our eyes on Him, He will take care of the rest. My husband has a saying,

“TRUST GOD AND DO THE NEXT RIGHT THING.”

Peace

Right now, this world is anything but peaceful. With wars in the Ukraine and in Israel, internal unrest in the United States and around the world. It feels like the whole world is falling apart.

Jesus said, “in the last days there will be wars and rumors of wars”.

So, if we are looking to our world leaders to bring us peace, it will never happen.

Peace is internal not external.

The Hebrew word “shalom” is the one we define as peace. And, it comes as a result of right relationships with God. If you are saved, you have peace with God. However, the peace of God comes daily as you walk with Him.

You have to actively pursue it. There are all kinds of things that can disrupt our peace on a daily basis. However, we all can choose the peace of God through prayer, reading his Word and Worship.

It’s up to us. God is ready and waiting for us.

Conclusion

I encourage you to have fun this week. Take some time to just relax and enjoy yourself and enjoy those spontaneous moments of “uninhibited spontaneity”. I know that I am way too serious much of the time. How about you?

Also, remember to find your peace and security in Jesus. Look to him. As long we keep our eyes on Him, we don’t have to be afraid of all the evil and unrest in this world.

Nothing happens that He is not aware of. He already sees the end from the beginning. You can trust Him with all your fears, insecurities and burdens.
