The very name of God- Immanuel means “God with us”. Often times, it seems like God is far away when really, he is right there by our side just waiting for us to turn to Him.
Anxious For Nothing
I was recently reminded of this when I read a devotional by Max Lucado called “Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a Chaotic World” which I would highly recommend.
It was a reminder to me that no matter what I am facing, He is trustworthy and right here with me through everything.
Last week, I mentioned the problem I’ve been having with my raccoon eyes. Unknown allergies or toxins have been causing my eyelids to get all red, swollen and blistered. It’s been very frustrating and my anxiety levels have been quite high.
When we are anxious, it’s easy to think that God has left us or is watching us from a distance. It’s easy to think that he doesn’t care.
However, God hasn’t gone anywhere. He is right by our side. He is with us every step of the way through every trial, health problem, financial scare, loss or battle. No matter what we are going through. He is with us and always will be.
Immanuel- God With Us
His very name Immanuel says that He is with us.
When Moses led his people through the desert, God was with them.
When Joseph was sold into slavery and thrown into prison, God was with him.
He was with Daniel in the lions den.
I know He is with me as I try to find answers..
And, wherever you are at, and no matter how impossible your circumstances may seem, God is with you too. He has the answers you need and He has a plan.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Conclusion
I find that it usually isn’t God that moves. It is us. We get focused on the problem at hand instead of the One who has the solution to every problem or challenge we may face.
I know that as I remember to worship Him, even when I sometimes don’t feel like it, something happens. As I read His Word, I remember His promises and that He is faithful.
I am able to release all that stress and anxiety that has built up inside me and lay it at the foot of the cross in His very capable hands. I am able to just rest in him, even if I still don’t have any answers, knowing that God is with me. His loving arms surround me and He will lead me through every circumstance. He will do the same for you.
Just remember- His very name Immanuel tells you who He is and where He is- With us.
