My Favorite Features
This Bible review is for the Hardcover NIV Application Bible and there are so many great features that I am excited about.
The first thing my husband and I noticed was the quality of the paper in the Bible. It seems thicker than in a lot of the Bible i already have. In full transparency, I have never had an Application Bible of any kind before so I cannot compare it to other or previous versions.
One of my favorite features are the chapter introductions for each book of the Bible. They are very detailed and include several different sections that really help you understand what is going on historically and culturally in that Book of the Bible and how to relate it to your own life today. There is a key verse, theme, timeline, perspective, taking the next steps section and tells you what to look for in that particular book of the Bible.
It opens your eyes and really does help you read with a new perspective so that you can relate the Scriptures to your own life.
Second, I love that the maps and charts are placed where they can be most effective throughout the Bible so that I can visualize where certain events took place.
Third, the commentaries at the bottom are extremely helpful as well as the application notes (in gray). They help give a deeper perspective of the Scripture you are reading.
Fourth, the Character of God and People to Know articles are fantastic! While the character of God articles help you know who God is based on specific Scriptures, the people to know articles give you an in depth perspective on specific people in the Bible.
There are so many other features I love about the NIV Application Bible, but these are a few of the highlights.
The parallel passages notes as well as the cross-referencing system is also great.

Bible Review Summary
I tried to be as extensive as I could in this Bible review of the NIV Application Bible. I really do love this Bible and it’s many features. I also love the fact that the study notes are based on the NIV Bible Commentary series.
They appear to very comprehensive and I look forward to using this Bible daily. I believe that this Bible will make it much easier to understand the cultural and historical times of the Bible as well as making it much easier to relate it to modern day life.
The application questions help you focus on what the Scriptures are saying and get more out of your daily reading.
All of the other features including the maps and charts, character of God articles, people to know articles, etc. really help you go deeper in God and in His Word and grow in that personal relationship with Him.
I highly recommend the NIV Application Bible even if you already have other Bibles because of it’s many features, the way it is designed and the commentaries.
