God Knows you- Psalms 139:1-12

God knows you - psalm 139: 1-12

Psalms 139 is one of my favorite passages of Scripture. Psalms 139:1-12 talks about how well God knows you. He knows each one of us inside out – better than we know ourselves oftentimes.

There is nowhere that we can go where God cannot find us. He knows our every thought. The Lord knows what we are going to say before we can say it.

He Knows Our Every Thought

It’s just amazing to me, that he can know us so well, and in spite of our sin, our mistakes, our bad attitudes, selfishness and so much more, he still loves us. No matter where I am or what I am doing, he knows exactly where I am at.

Sometimes I think that maybe it would be better if he didn’t know my every thought or action. Because when I mess up or hurt someone or do anything that I am ashamed of, I don’t want anyone to know, especially God. I would rather be able to keep those things to myself.

There’s Nowhere You Can Hide

No matter how hard I try, however, I cannot hide my sins from him. It’s impossible. Although If I did keep those sins to myself, I would be pretty miserable because they would eat away at me, affecting my whole life.

So as painful as it may be, it is also a comfort to know that God isn’t going to leave me alone no matter how badly I screw up. I can release all the junk to him and He will take care of it for me. It’s a burden that I don’t need to carry and don’t want to carry.

I love it when Jesus says in Matthew:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

What a freeing thought, not only does Jesus take my burden of sin, but he gives me rest.

I don’t have to be afraid or hide who I am with him. He already knows who I am.  I don’t have to stumble around in the dark because he lights the way.

We all have moments when we feel like everything is dark around us. Our lives, our world, our families seem to be falling apart. Everything seems to be going wrong.

He is the Light

Psalms 139: 11-12 reminds me that no matter how dark my world seems to be, that he is still the light. If I can just keep my focus on him, he will be my light and will lead me out of the darkness no matter what I am facing. He can do the same for you.

No matter what you may be facing today, I want to encourage you and let you know how much God loves you.

Conclusion

Most importantly, He really does know everything about you and loves you (us) anyway. There is nothing you can do to keep him from loving you.

Just keep your focus on his light and will lead you out of whatever darkness you may be facing.

Psalms 139:1-12 has been such a deep encouragement and a light to me in the hard times. I hope it will be to you also.
