God Created You- Psalms 139:13-16

God Created You- Psalms 139_13-16 NIV

Psalms 139:13-16 is just as powerful to me as that first part of the Psalms. While the first part of Psalms 139 talks about how there is nowhere you can hide from His presence and how He knows our every thought and everything we will do before we do it, Psalms 139:13-16 focuses on how He created each one of us on purpose for a purpose.

We are not a mistake.

God created you
Psalms 139: 13-16

My Story

I can’t tell you how much this Scripture has meant to me since I discovered it a few years ago. I have struggled with self-confidence and self-image problems since I was a child. Like many people, especially young girls, and adult women, I never felt like I was good enough. I always felt like I had to measure up to someone else’s standards.

Sometimes it was my own standards that I tried to measure up to without success. My self-image was always dependent on what I did rather than who I am or whose I am. It didn’t matter what it was, if I failed at something or didn’t meet whatever expectations I had, I would beat myself up. I always felt like I had to be “perfect”.

As a Christian, I knew that was impossible for there is only one person who ever walked the earth who was perfect- Jesus.

We Can Be Confident

My confidence can be totally dependent on the fact that God created me with purpose. From the color of my hair to the things I am passionate about or my skills ans abilities, every little thing about me God designed for a specific purpose- with love.

He did the same for you and every other person on the planet. God doesn’t want us to live doubting ourselves. Instead, He wants us to be confident in who He created us to be. He doesn’t want us to be arrogant either, but to walk confidently and humbly in the knowledge that He created us on purpose for a purpose.

Just knowing that He loves me so much and chose to create me with all my little quirks fills me with such joy that there isn’t room to contain it. That is, when I really take the time to think about it.

We Are Secure

Verse 16 states that “all the days ordained for me were written before one of them came to be.” I don’t know that I can totally fathom all that means. But I know I am secure in the knowledge that God knows everything that will happen in my life.

Even when I feel uncertain about the future and all it holds, especially when you look at the news lately, I know that God is in control. Nothing comes as a surprise to Him. He’s been watching over be since before He even created me and will continue to do so for the rest of this life and into the next.

Conclusion

I encourage you to take a close look at Psalms 139:13-16 and think about how much God must love you because He created you on purpose. He “created your inmost being”. You are not a mistake and you are deeply loved.
